Microsoft wireless optical desktop 4000 bundle

Microsoft should consider including duplicate dongle for same purpose. I just did the exact same thing. One Microsoft keyboard and mouse in the trash because they can't figure out or won't figure out how to replace a small vulnerable part. It looks like Logitech and Dell have it figured out. Goodbye Microsoft.

The mouse does ok - always gives a weak signal warning though.

The keyboard is very hard to keep working. Have downloaded the latest software to no avail. Once it stops working, no rhyme or reason to how to get it working again. Have reinstalled software numerous times - sometimes helps, sometimes not. All in all, very, VERY dissapointed with this product.

Overall Review: newegg rocks, but I wouldn't have this particular item again if it were given to me. I've had success with Logitech products in the past and will most likely buy another of their products to replace this paperweight. Cons: Keyboard has this strange F-Lock button. I noticed that if I don't hit it, the actual F1-F12 keys don't work as they should. I would think that by default, Microsoft would have those keys enabled instead of disabled.

The signal strength isn't that great either. Overall Review: It works well overall. I have it hooked into a KVM that sits on my desk. The receiver is no more than about 1. I have to reconnect it sometimes because it seems to lose the signal strength. Strange, but for the price, what do you expect?

I called them to see if they had any that could be sent out, and instead sent me a replacement keyboard, and did not want me to send this one back. This one makes use of the PS2 connector. I need USB for my removable devices. Cons: The receiver was bad out of the box. It would not accept signal from the mouse. I had to exchange the entire item, as NewEgg would not exchange just the receiver. Waste of money on shipping Overall Review: NewEgg should review component replacement policy because of the cost of shipping.

It may also infuriate customer if the replacement arrive with a different defective component. The shape of the mouse fits nicely in my hand, and is for comfortable for either the right or the left. The scroll wheel is very smooth. The keys on the board feel solid and the built in wrist rest is a nice addition.

There are lots and lots of customizable shortcut keys, including a little zoom lever on the left side that I find a little odd. I drop both the mouse and keyboard frequently and nothing has broken. Cons: The receiver didn't work straight out of the box. Switched with one I already had.
